Jennifer Lopez wants her maiden name back after divorcing Ben Affleck

Under the professional name “Jennifer Affleck,” Jennifer Lopez has found little traction. Recent divorce court documents, reviewed by CNN, indicate that the artist wants to return to her maiden name, “Jennifer Lynn Lopez.”

Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck around the second year of their marriage, which took place in Riceboro, Georgia, in 2022. Notably, she marked April 26, 2024 as the official date of their separation, which puts the length of their marriage at nearly two years.

The couple had reportedly been living on opposite coasts all summer, an event that took place alone in late July, when Lopez celebrated her birthday at a Bridgerton-inspired bash, which Affleck did not attend.

In a more public vein, Lopez released a documentary in February titled “The Greatest Love Story Never Told.” The project delved into her personal journey of self-discovery and the creative process behind her solo album “This Is Me… Now.” In the documentary, Affleck discusses the concessions they made regarding their shared desire to balance privacy with public life.

The dissolution of their marriage marks another chapter in the high-profile celebrity storyline that spans several decades. They first met more than two decades ago on the set of “Gigli,” where their characters, two jilted criminals, sparked a real-life connection. Despite an annulled marriage in 2003 and years apart, they reunited romantically in 2021.

The divorce, filed under the heading of “irreconcilable differences,” marks the end of their historic union.
